I am a dog lover and have a special place in my heart for rescues. I adopted Sammy in 2021. He was transported to Virginia from South Carolina. There was no background information about him because he was a stray.

Sammy has never had any problems with his appetite. I noticed he was losing his appetite and drinking excessive water. I took him to my vet, where he diagnosed with diabetes after becoming critically ill. He developed diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening emergency that required immediate hospitalization in the intensive care unit. He was admitted to the ER ICU on Sat, July 25, 2026.

Sammy immediately fit in with the other rescues in my pack. He was #5 at that time. He loves laying anywhere in the sun. He is honestly the most intelligent dog I’ve ever adopted (I’ve rescued 10 over the past 20yrs). I only have one female in the pack right now, and Bella is his girlfriend.
