About this campaign
"Ouch!" That's what you'll say when you see the X-ray of Sammy's broken leg. Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption saved Sammy in the nick of time!
"Sammy was in a kill shelter housed in a kennel with another dog, likely her sister. Her sister got saved, but Sammy got left behind, probably because she had a broken leg. The facility got full, and the staff walked the poor hobbling dog back to the euthanasia room. When Lucky Lab heard, they contacted the shelter immediately, got Sammy a stay of execution, and then sprung her," the rescue tells Waggle.
The rescue brought her to Sunset Canyon Veterinary Clinic, where they learned one of the bones in Sammy's leg completely snapped in two. An orthopedic surgeon reviewed her case and is hopeful she can avoid surgery -- but her leg will need to be in a splint for about two months, which needs to be changed weekly. Then she will need a couple of sets of follow-up X-rays to see if the bone is mending itself back together properly.
Despite is all, Sammy is the sweetest girl! She loves her humans and their family. She is now in a foster home, and she is so happy. Please help Sammy catch a good break this time!
"Lucky Lab does not turn away dogs that need medical care," the rescue says. "We love Waggle and their kind-hearted staff and community who help us come to the rescue when these dogs really need it!"
