About this campaign
This is Sasha. She's a 12 yo Cane Corso and I received her and her sister, Bella, as birthday gifts in 2010 when they were 8 weeks old. They were the last of their litter and because Sasha was small for the breed, the breeder sold them together. Until Bella died last October, they had never been apart. Over the years they have been the most loving and faithful companions to each other and to me.
Because of their appearance, strangers often expected them to be mean and scary only to find out they're gentle giants. They'd always follow me to the door to greet everyone, whether it was family and friends or a delivery person; and they'd get so excited when my children and grandchildren stopped by. Even now, Sasha comes out to see who's visiting to make sure she gets her ears scratched.
When they were younger, Sasha and Bella would race through the yard chasing the squirrels that ran along the fence, hunt for sticks to drag through the yard together, and have very loud conversations with the dogs next door. Sasha still talks very loudly and a lot and if it gets too late she will bark and talk until I settle into bed.
While I've been contending with my own health problems, Sasha developed a malignant mammary tumor which recently ruptured. The caring vet and staff at the Animal Care Center of the Poconos initially evaluated Sasha pro bono and provided antibiotics, but she still needs a costly surgery, xrays, and bloodwork to have it removed. The vet said she could live a few more yrs after having this surgery.
I've been on disability for quite a while and the cost of Sasha's surgery is more than I can afford on a fixed income. It would mean the world to me for Sasha to have this surgery and to have her healthy and whole again.
