Sasha is a 15-year-old Shih Tzu in Vacaville, CA, who needs $2,000 for Dental with Extraction.

I found Sasha on the road alone. She was barely moving, just walking slowly along. I called to her, but she did not hear me. I believe she is hard of hearing. Our vet says Sasha has been homeless for quite some time, she was completely matted, was neglected, is around 15 or 16 years of age and has alopecia from poor nutrition. She was wearing a collar and tag, but the phone number is disconnected.

Sasha is a very calm and gentle little old lady. She doesn't bother the cat and gets along well with our other dogs. She is house-trained and seems grateful to have a warm place to sleep. She loves attention, but is not demanding at all. She has three places to sleep; one, she claimed for herself: The doggie toy box. We had no choice but to let her have it.

Sasha is a very special little girl. It's obvious that she's had a rough life and it's obvious that she's grateful to be here with our family. She she can't go up any stairs on her own, but when I lift her to carry her, she will jump a bit when I start to pick her up. I'm guessing this is her way of helping me with her care.

Yesterday, we took Sasha to Banfield Pet Hospital in Davis, CA, for a checkup. She was treated by Dr. Miller and Dr. Morera. Sasha has not been spayed and has multiple mammary tumors. Her mouth is in really bad shape and will require an in depth dental cleaning along with some tooth extractions. She has cataracts, an eye infection and other eye ailments related to neglect and aging.

Sasha will stay with us for the remainder of her life. We will put her on a medical plan with Banfield so she'll get regular vet visits and shots. But we are on retirement income and can't afford the extra procedures: tooth extractions, spaying and mammary tumor removal.
