Sassy is a 10-year-old Shetland sheepdog in Columbia, SC, who needs $2,000 for Cholecystectomy.

Sassy is the last of five Shetland sheepdogs that I’ve owned. I put her companion down in August due to the same condition, a gallbladder mucocele. After much testing and trying medical management Sassy needs surgery to remove the gallbladder. Without this a rupture will occur likely causing death. Sassy is 10 and I think with surgery she could recover and have quality of life.

It is just Sassy and I in our household. Unfortunately I lost my other Shelby last August to this same condition. So it’s been raw losing her and then have the same condition occur in my last dog. This will probably be my last dog as veterinary expenses have gotten cost prohibitive at this stage of my life. I want to try to save Sassy if at all possible.

My dogs and lastly Sassy have been my loves and companions for many years. My children are grown and I ‘ e been divorced for many years so my pets are my way to give love and in turn receive love. Sassy is a lovely pet that has brought me so much joy.
Every shelties I’ve owned has been special in their own right. Loyal, intelligent and they love their owners.

Around the holidays I noticed a change in her behavior. The not eating was unlike her. After several veterinary visits and bloodwork and sonograms a gallbladder mucocele was diagnosed. I have consulted with CVets in Columbia where additional diagnostics confirmed a gallbladder mucocele. We had trying to medically manage it but it’s not working.

I have already spent over $2000 paying for above expenses. The surgery is quoted at 4800 to 5000. I have exhausted all other options. I didn’t get approved for Care credit. The surgery center has to have payment the day of surgery. At least the 4800..
