About this campaign

Scooter was adopted in June 2020, as a companion pet for our friend’s mom. Soon after, his new and loving mom began experiencing symptoms of early on-set Alzheimer’s. As her dementia worsened, she could no longer care for Scooter. We took him in as a foster dog on September 24, 2021. While we were looking for a good home for Scooter, he became a part of the family and decided to keep him.

He is a best friend to our 95 pound dog and a small but mighty and important part of the family. He gets along with all animals and people. He is protective of small children and will watch over them and let them do anything to them. He follows us everywhere and never wants to be more than a few feet away.

Scooter makes the funniest sounds, its like he is trying to communicate with us, but we can't help but laugh. He cuddles up under any blanket and gets as close as he can to get warmth. Scooters facial expressions are great, he has a funny smile when he gets really happy, he purses his lips and shows all his teeth. He is great at catching mice and even rats that are almost his size!

Our sweet dog, Scooter, was badly injured after being hit by a car and has a with a fractured femur and pelvis, pneumothorax, elevated liver enzymes, and internal bleeding. Scooter needs time to heal from the trauma to his organs before he can have surgery. It is a miracle he is still alive and we want him to have every opportunity to continue living.

We only recently decided to adopt him we did not have pet insurance yet. We have no idea how we are going to pay for this, the vet bill is beyond what we have in our savings.
