For 14 years, Scorpio Anne has filled her family's life with unconditional love, comfort, and unwavering loyalty. Affectionately known as "Big Mama," this gentle Pit Bull Terrier has been a devoted protector, loving companion, and the heart of her home ever since her mom welcomed her into the family years ago. Now, when Scorpio Anne needs her most, her mom is doing everything she can to help her through the fight of her life.

Earlier this summer, Scorpio Anne's mom noticed blood coming from her paw. A closer examination revealed several masses, and thanks to the support of another nonprofit organization, she was able to have biopsies performed. The results brought both heartbreak and hope. Two of the masses are benign, but one is cancerous. Thankfully, her veterinarian believes Scorpio Anne has an excellent chance for a good recovery—but only if all three masses are removed as soon as possible. Until then, Scorpio Anne continues to live with painful, bleeding growths that require frequent bandage changes just to keep her comfortable.

Watching her beloved best friend endure this every day has been incredibly difficult for her mom, who simply wants Scorpio Anne to spend her senior years surrounded by love instead of pain. The surgery to remove the masses is estimated to cost $3,068.99. Thanks to a generous $200 grant from Paws 4 A Cure, part of her care has already been covered, but her family still needs to raise $2,500 to move forward with surgery, medications, and post-operative care.
