About this campaign
Scout came into our lives in September 2020 at 8 weeks old. Scout lives with my husband, myself, a German Shepherd (Zeus) and a cat(Rastus) My husband is her Nanny. He is retired and I work as a teacher's aide at the local high school. She has a German Shepherd and a cat that are roommates with us. She keeps us moving!
Scout loves to chase her ball, go swimming in the lake, and tease Zeus with toys. At 3 she still puppy zooms when out in the yard with us. She sleeps on the sofa or in her crate with the door open. She sits with me on the arm of my recliner or just across me (100 lb puppy). Scout along with Zeus help my husband with his PTSD as a Veteran. He treats them like his children.
We call Scout "Hard headed Hannah". She is Miss Independent which got her into this predicament! She uses her crate as her safety place but now and again has to go in so we can bring groceries in or clip the other dog's nails. She doesn't want to miss a thing. Scout doesn't like going out too long at night. She potties and in we go!
On October 17, 2023 Scout's hard-headdness got the better of her. Even with my husband calling her and using the bell and vibration on her training collar she went into the road. A pick-up truck hit her but our neighbor saw it and there was no way for the young man to avoid her. She hit with her right hip and flipped. Besides some major road rash, she has a dislocated hip One lucky puppy!
We live on a limited income. My husband gets Social Security. I make under $30,000 as a teacher's aide. Money is tight. I would hate to have to put her down because we don't have the money or the credit. We are so stressed. She is an hour away at an ER vet for surgery.
