Selene is a 7-year-old Australian Cattle Dog in Colorado Springs, CO, who needs $1,700 for emergency eye surgery.

Selene is a special pup. She’s my baby, my running and hiking buddy, and my happiness on dark days. She’s my best friend. Everyone who has met her, knows she’s special. She’s extremely smart and adapts to whatever is thrown her way She grew up tied to a kettlebell at a crossfit gym while I coached classes. She quickly learned that as soon as the buzzer went off that she would be released to love on everyone who had just finished their workouts. She was a trouble maker growing up, not because she didn’t know better, but because she doesn’t like not getting what she wants. She once raised a 1lb stray kitten that needed a home, and protected it from anyone she didn’t trust. Since then she always gets excited at the sound of “meows” and wants to mother any small animal she encounters. With that being said, she loves to baby her step-brother daschund and he happily accepts the attention. She quickly learned that “home” was anywhere I was and moved around with me when my life went disarray. She has always been my rock. She became a city dog when she moved to Chicago with me and fell in love with the dog beaches and going for runs along the lakeshore. When I was training for crossfit competitions, she would push me on my sprinting intervals by racing me to the finish and eagerly awaiting for the next sprint. She shared in the excitement of moving to Arizona with me and quickly became an adventure dog. She fell in love with hiking as much as I did and trusted me when I made her learn to walk in booties to protect her paws from the hot ground. We live in a van full time now and she wasn’t a bit anxious when we transitioned to van life. She knew that since all of our stuff was in there, it was our new home. So far she has loved it. She wakes up every day with the extreme excitement to smell all the new things that surround us that day. She “Roos” when she’s happy and excited, and so her “roos” have filled the van every morning, knowing that after breakfast, it’s frisbee time.

Unfortunately in November of 2018 she broke her ankle playing frisbee. This fundraiser isnt for that surgery, but rather it is for the eye removal surgery she needs due to this surgeon not addressing a bad infection she got from surgery. Throughout her recovery process she trusted me to care for her and help her in recovering.

My mom is a dog trainer and said she has never seen such a good relationship between a dog and owner. Shes truly my best friend.
