Sergeant is a 8-year-old Boxer in Virginia Beach , VA, who needs $2,000 for Radiation Therapy.

I adopted Sergeant 2 years ago from a family that was moving and couldn’t take him. They also unfortunately couldn’t afford his routine and some other veterinary care that he needed, including an dew claw removal that had become infected and required surgery (thus the bandage in some photos. He joined me and my two rescues Leo and Samson, who have since passed. He’s my whole world now!

Sergeant blended in right away with my little family of rescues. I was hoping to foster a few Boxers with a local rescue while I recovered from the expenses of having two senior pups with advanced medical needs. Unfortunately, I had to put that plan on hold once we discovered that Sergeant had a nerve sheath tumor. But he has many fur friends who he can’t wait to play with again once he’s 100%!

Sergeant is the sweetest, gentlest boy. He loves his snuggle time, and his favorite time of day is anytime I sit down. He makes the funniest faces and noises, and loves to play with his toys. He hates hard floors of any kind, and watching him tiptoe across (only when he must!) is hilarious. He is my comfort and my companion, and has helped me through many losses. I can’t imagine life without him.

Sergeant was diagnosed with a grade 2 nerve sheath tumor in November 2023. This required amputation of his right forelimb. They removed as much of the tumor as they could, but unfortunately they could not get clear margins in one area due to proximity to his spine. He will now require radiation treatments to hopefully get rid of the remaining tumor cells. These tumors are very, very painful!

I had to have a very expensive surgery in June 2023, and the costs of his treatments so far have been $10k. I’ve maxed out my CareCredit account. His radiation treatments will be around $10k, and require travel/boarding because there are no local treatment facilities.
