About this campaign

I found Seven (then named Maybelline) at the Muskegon Humane Society in August of 2021. She had been a stray in rural Louisiana and was picked up by the local animal control. After her 5 day waiting period was over and no one claimed her, to save her from the most unfortunate fate, a local rescue picked her up. She then made her way to Michigan where I found her and adopted her.

Seven is very sweet and loving, and she is the best friend of my other dog, Snorri. She is younger than him, and he was becoming an old man couch potato. Now he is much more energetic and happier. The three of us are a very close-knit and tight family. Having Seven in my life has been a blessing to me and Snorri.

One of Seven's nicknames is "floppy clown" because she flops around the house, falls off the couch and the bed, runs into walls, and is just hilarious. On the day I adopted her, I was in the meet and greet room at the shelter and she was laying on her back on the couch with her hanging over the side and she was chewing toys at the same time and eventually fell on the floor.

When I adopted Seven, she was heartworm negative. What I didn't realize was that it can take several months to show up on a test. She didn't get another test until May 2022, in her annual parasitic screening, and the vet at Preston Animal Clinic came in and said she tested positive. Another $100 blood test confirmed the diagnosis, and I was told the cost for treatment would be $2000.

This is an unexpected expense at a time when I am in the process of moving out of the country (with my dogs). The expenses of moving have left me with no savings. Normally a shelter would cover this cost of treatment, but she had tested negative at the time I adopted her.
