I got Shadow through a rescue, and it's a bit of a crazy story. His mom was a stray who followed my dad home while she was pregnant, and that's how I ended up with him. He’s been with me since birth—so we’ve been together for 7 years. We still have his mom, and she lives with us in our home. Shadow has always been my shadow. Recently, Shadow developed a fever of 104°F. I noticed that he wasn’t eating and barely moved from his spot on my pillow. I rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Allen, where Dr. Burnside treated him. They didn’t run any tests, but they gave him amoxicillin as a precaution since they suspect he might have an infection.

Shadow has a magical way of making everything better. He loves talking to squirrels outside, always near the window. His tennis ball and his obsession with chicken smell make him so special. The sound of tuna opening sends him running. His joy, his silly antics, his love for life—these things are what make him the soul of our home.

I just recently got a job, and my mom and I fled a dangerous situation. We’re drowning in bills and loans. I used my last savings to pay an electric bill and can’t afford Shadow’s care. This is my last chance.
