Shadow is a 14 year old Golden Retriever in Greensboro, NC, who needs $1,300 for Eye Mass Removal.

Shadow truly is the last member I have left living from my mom’s side. He was a gift to my grandmother from my PawPaw as she struggled with the grief of the loss of her soulpet. Shadow as a puppy brought joy to the last few months of my grandma’s life. She passed away in 2010, then for the next few years Shadow kept my PawPaw company until his passing in 2016 and has lived with me ever since.

Shadow has had a tumor on his eyelid for the past few years. Our vet at Lawndale Veterinary said so long as it didn’t cause discomfort it didn’t need immediate treatment. Over the last few months it has grown in size and has begun to bleed and cause obvious pain to his eye. It was suggested it be removed, but bloodwork and surgery is estimated to be $1500 dollars which is almost my month’s pay.

Shadow has truly been the light of my life. We’ve lost family together and grieved in each others arms. He is sweet to everyone he meets, placing a paw in each newcomer’s hand. He loves elephants and pink bunnies; makes sure that he has one to give you as soon as you get home. The best hiking buddy and napping buddy ever. He gives more to me than I could ever give to him. He truly saved my life.

I am currently working at a temp job at the university I am attending. The pay is just enough to get by, but schedules around classes. I am working towards two degrees at the moment and as a college student relying on scholarships I do not have the funds to help him quickly.
