About this campaign
My family rescued Shadow and his brother as kittens before they were set as outdoor cats by our neighbor who couldn't take care of them. He and his brother live with us along with another cat and two dogs.
Shadow is the "alpha" cat in our family. He has taken it upon himself to keep the other two cats in line and doesn't like any interference from the two dogs. He loves to be petted and will seek out attention at all times of the day. If he is not sleeping in the sink, or being outside in the cold (his choice) he is lounging around over a vent or in the window.
Shadow loves to be cool, he will sleep on vents with the AC on and will happily lay outside in the cool days of fall and spring. He will sleep inside the sink and will run to the faucet when it is turned on to get a drink of fresh water.
Earlier this year, Shadow came down with a cough that wouldn't go away with treatment. We got an x-ray in September that showed a 5cm mass in his right lung. We took him to see an Internal medicine veterinarian and the biopsy she performed was inconclusive. The current course of treatment that is recommended is that Shadow get a CT scan and undergo surgery to remove the mass.
My family lives paycheck to paycheck and the CT and surgery are nearly $10k. we do not have enough even in our emergency funds to cover such an expense. Getting Shadow healthy again would mean that he can be a carefree, pain free cat again.
