Shadow is a 7-year-old Boxer/Labrador Mix in West Harrison, NY, who needs $2,000 for Chemotherapy CHOP protocol.

Shadow came to me in 2014 when his owner was no longer able to care for him. He and I immediately took to one another. His sweet disposition, determination, and sense of independence were just some of the traits that make him exceptional. We traveled on a road trip 1100 miles to his now home in NY. The entire way he was by my side and thus came his name Shadow. Now he lives for playing outside.

We are a one-person household, but Shadow and I visit nearby family members as much as possible. He is gentle with newborns, toddlers, and children; all of which have taken to him right away. He is loving and always manages to sneak in a kiss when you're not paying attention. He loves rolling around on his back in the hopes of acquiring belly rubs. He touches the hearts of everyone he meets.

Financially, we are out of work due to the pandemic. Shadow has become a personal therapy dog over the last 7 years. He is young and full of life. He is sensitive to human emotion and alerts me to when I should take care of my mental health. Among other things, his companion

Shadow was just diagnosed with gastrointestinal lymphoma. He was deemed a candidate for chemotherapy and has begun aggressive treatment. It is very early, however, he seems to be tolerating it well. He is currently being cared for by the Cornell University Veterinary Specialists Oncology team, where he receives treatment weekly and will for the next 24 weeks.

Shadow has the ability to jump nearly 6 feet in the air! He prefers one side of the couch and will sit and wait (barking occasionally) until you move. He has an "indoor voice" in which he barks or makes a "Roo" noise. He has gained the nickname "RooRoo." He also loves to open baby gates (from both sides) unlatching the lock that is relatively complicated for a canine. He is exceptional.
