Shasta is a 7-year-old Shepherd Mix in Hillsboro, OR, who needs $1170.90 for Spay and Mass removal.

Shasta has come into our family quite unexpectedly. She showed up outside our room at the hotel we were staying at near Mt. Shasta. She immediately loved our puppies and followed them on all their walks during our stay. At night she would hide under the porch to stay away from the bear that roamed through town. We knew she needed help because she was skinny, hungry and had skin patches.

We asked around town and none of the locals recognized her. We did our due diligence and checked with the local animal hospital and lost and found lists. There was no one claiming her. When it was time to go home, we made a space in the car and invited her in. She jumped in immediately with no hesitation. It was like she knew we were going to help her. So we brought her home.

Because Shasta was an unexpected Treasure we did not have the finances saved for such a big vet bill. We are currently a one paycheck household due to our own medical emergency. We just need help over this first hurtle and then we can take care of this wonderful gentle lady

Shasta has had a chronic ear infection. She has skin issues that may be allergies. She is currently in heat, so we are dealing with diapers, etc. which will lead to a spay procedure when it is safe. She has two Mammary Masses that need to be removed and biopsied - 50/50 chance for cancer. We have a relationship with Cornell Road Vet and Dr. Larison. This is where we have the estimate from.

Shasta felt comfortable enough to come into the house after only an hour.  She is still so very sweet and has had some kind of training. She always has a calm and gentle demeanor. She loves our other pups and never is annoyed by them. She is polite and happy. Everyone who sees her recognizes her kind gentle soul and can't believe she was lost or left by someone. She is happy here.
