Shaya is an 8-year-old Rottweiler/Weimaraner in Miami, FL, who needs $2,000 for Thyroidectomy.

Shaya is a rescue from Miami-Dade County Animal Shelter. We live in a house with a yard, she has 3 other rescue siblings all adopted from the county shelter. My family is entirely made up of my 4 dogs and me. Shaya was a happy, playful and very healthy 95lb dog until she got sick in September 2019. She has been my best friend, my body guard and my furry kid for 8 years.

I share my house with 4 dogs. 2 boys and 2 girls. Shaya was energetic and playful until about 6 months ago. She is still very sweet and tries her best but she mostly sleeps now because she's too tired for anything else. She still thinks she's my body guard though. If any of the other 3 dogs plays a little too rough, here she comes to defend her Mama.

I have spent thousands getting to a diagnosis and putting Shaya on a specialized diet, there is not much money left for surgery. I cannot imagine my life without this little girl and cannot bear to watch her suffer.

After she started having a skin issues, she got tested at Yao Animal Hospital for a variety of possible ailments, all came out negative. I went to a specialist, did an allergy panel, after months of blood tests, diet changes, trial medications, more testing revealed she has hyperparathyroidism and can only get better through surgery which should take place at Knowles Animal Hospital.

Shaya picked me at the shelter, she was in the last kennel at the end of a row and when she saw me she threw herself at the fence and started to whine. She was 4 months old. Her older brother met her and thought she was pretty cool so we took her home. Until recently I was pretty sure she was made out of Velcro and I was the other half. She was always attached to a part of my body.
