Shaya was shot twice and urgently needs your help.

Stray Paws Adoptables received an urgent call one night about a dumped dog. They were already full, stretched thin like so many rescues are—but when one of their incredible fosters stepped forward to help, they knew they couldn’t turn her away.

Nothing could have prepared them for what they found. When transport arrived, this sweet girl wasn’t running, barking, or afraid. She was lying still. She had been shot. Twice.

One bullet shattered her leg. The second tore through her chest.

She was rushed immediately to the vet, where the team worked quickly to stabilize her fragile body. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of her foster and a friend who refused to leave her side, she made it safely to VSS. But the news that followed was devastating.

Shaya has air and fluid in and around her chest—a life-threatening complication caused by the gunshot wound, but they are doing everything they can to save her life.

Through unimaginable pain and fear, Shaya has been nothing but gentle. She trusts. She loves.

They named her Shaya, meaning \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_Miracle\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_ or \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_Gift\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\_, because despite everything she has endured, her spirit remains unbroken. She deserves the chance to experience the beautiful life she should have always known.

Shaya’s medical needs are extensive and urgent. Her care includes emergency stabilization, advanced imaging, possible surgery for her broken leg, and continued hospitalization. The costs are already overwhelming, and they continue to grow.

After being either dumped or lost, our sweet Shaya endured the unthinkable.. she was shot not once, but twice. Despite the odds being stacked against her, with the help of our incredible community, dedicated vet care, and generous donors, Shaya fought her way through.

Today, we are beyond thrilled to share that Shaya is officially adopted and living her best life in a loving home!
