I lost my second rescued pitbull mix in September of 2017. I had him since he was 6 weeks old. Taken from his mother too soon and a neglected animal that I had to help. I had Icarus 9 years. His father was a 75 lb Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier and his mother was 37 lb Jack Russell Terrier. He was a peculiar looking little guy with the strong defined muscular body of a pitbull and the long face and jack russell energy. He never surpassed 40 lbs but my dear guy was plagued with extreme allergies, seizures, anxiety and self mutilation habits due to all the issues. We managed these issues for many years and he was with me through some of the hardest points in my life and deaths of my family members. I was completely devastated when I lost him.
. . .Right now you are asking yourself what this story has to do with Sheba? Well, many of my friends and colleagues are animal lovers and some are involved in rescues. My friend sent me a picture of Sheba with no explanation just a picture. I replied with "Wow, what a beautiful girl!" She asked if I wanted to meet her and I immediately declined and told her I knew what she was up to and no. The rescue she was involved with had recently lost their founder to a fatal disease and her husband actually had Sheba at his home as he was doing his best to keep her memory alive through keeping the rescue afloat. So my friend coarsened me into going to see her. I stood in the yard and my friend and some other folks were on the porch and when the door opened, Sheba was in the foyer with her back turned. She effortlessly turned around and walked past everyone very nonchalantly and came out and down the steps and sat down on my feet. My friend could only say, "I guess she chose you!" To this day I feel like Icarus sent her to me or she just knew I needed her so badly and her messed up situation needed someone in her life too. She has truly been there for me when I needed someone so badly and now I need to be there for her. ❤
