About this campaign

We adopted Shelby from a local animal shelter about 3 yrs ago. She was found as a stray and, as a result, we had to wait until her stray hold was done. You can be sure, we were down at the shelter to get her th minute she was available!! We brought her home and started the process of her getting comfy and letting her live her best life!!!!

She is still living her best life!!! She plays with the other dogs we have, and even enjoys to play with our cats!! She will get into barking contests with my oldest son, we still haven’t figured out who usually wins theee contests, as she will eventually just start cuddling with him. I think it’s just to get him to hush lol

Her favorite toy is a lamb chop stuffy and she loves to sleep cuddled up next to whoever is sitting there, preferably under a blanket!! At dinner time, she will get up on the bench next to my kids and it seems like she is just patiently waiting for her own plate. She is definitely one of cuddliest dogs, when she wants to be.

When we took her to the vet for the first time, she had severe diarrhea and we were just getting that checked, as well as, getting her set up to be spayed. The vet suggested, due to her being found as a stray for an unknown amount of time, that we test for heart worm and Lyme disease. She tested positive for both! Abx were started for the Lyme, and we started the long kill method for heartworms.

Two yrs later, she is still positive for heartworms despite being on the long kill method for them. The short kill method is a series of 3 shots, $1500 each, for a total of $4500 for the treatment. I have been saving but the longer it takes, the more damage to her heart.
