About this campaign
Shinya was my "it's a sign" cat. After my friend adopted a cat of her own, I wanted one too. When I went to a rescue's adoption event at PetCo, I first saw my sweet, one-eyed calico kitty. She and her brown-orange tabby sister were the last 2 of their litter... I adopted them both together and have had them ever since. 14 years strong and I would not trade them for the world.
Shinya had on/off diarrhea & vomiting for a few months after a year of 2 separate stressful roommate situations, but was mostly fine - it was when she lost weight, having always been my chubby-ish cat, that I started to worry. Bloodwork done at Gentle Care Vet Hospital confirmed she had hyperthyroidism. I was devastated until I was informed it is manageable & treatable. Currently on methimazole.
Shinya LOVES treats and food - especially wet food at dinner time. I couldn't upload the video because the file was too big, but I have a video of her pacing behind me and meowing (yelling!) as I get her wet food ready. It's the cutest thing. She also loves to be pet, cuddled, and have her belly rubbed. She is a bit skittish around others though and takes a bit of time to warm up to people.
I had a treatment fund set up for Shinya & saved $3000 with some help from friends, but with the diagnostics needed it's closer to $4000 total. I have a fixed income & my rent just went up, I unfortunately cannot afford an extra $1000 w/only 2 months left before treatment.
