Shuga (Shoo-ya) is a 9-year-old Beagle, Scottie, Pitbull in Pueblo, CO, who needs $475 for Sedation, Wound Cleaning, Sutures, and Antibiotics.

We were supposed to house Shuga (Shoo-ya) for three days—that was 8 years ago. He's our beagscottipit: The bold joy and big voice of a beagle, a scottie's bossy intelligence, and a pit's hardheaded goofiness. He lives with my mom, dad, and me, as well as our other younger dog who came to us three years ago.

He may be a mix but he's all beagle. He's got all his Snoopy noises and mannerisms. He knows how to take half a queen size bed for himself. He knows his allergy medicine makes him feel better. He will defend our home from everything, from a plastic bag to a serial killer. His ideal life would be that my mom is always home and there's nothing in her lap except him. Yeah, he's a momma's boy.

He prefers to sleep in our beds—UNDER the covers. Always napping or at play, his favorite toy being his hedgehog. He makes up songs with the squeaker, and even drinks his water on beat. He made up his own reverse ball game where you throw it up the stairs for him to catch, and he will drop it down to you, for hours if you let him.

We, our rather our dogs, found a stray kitten in our yard on a 104 degree day looking for shade. Their leashes tangled as our younger, bigger dog lunged for the kitten, the tangled leashes and high emotions caused a scuffle that left a sizable gash on Shuga's head and a sore foot.

Our last 2 years have killed our savings: leaky sink flooding half our house, accidents, injuries, car troubles, and our younger dog being hit by a car in Jan. after his harness suddenly broke in two places. We three can't work for health reasons. This is our baby.
