Sky is an 8-year-old Lab/Chow Shih Tzu in Broussard, LA, who needs $787 for heartworm treatment.

Sky came into my life about 9 years ago, when I got him as a puppy. He was very tiny and fluffy when I got him, and that’s why I named him sky. I raised him at my grandmothers house because my parents were not fond of animals in the house. This year, I moved back in with my parents and my sister. My parents welcomed Sky in with open arms, and he puts a smile on everyone’s faces.

Sky sleeps next to me in his dog bed. He isn’t a big cuddler but he always has to be in the same room as me. So as long as I’m home, he’s with me. When I leave for work, he lays next to my dad who is unemployed right now. I like to think that they keep each other company. My dad Is always talking to Sky like he can answer back. Sky makes everyone happy.

As of right now, my job has slowed down a lot. I work in the restaurant industry and business is very slow and unpredictable during these trying times. Going through with the treatment would give me a big sigh of relief and a couple more years with my best friend.

I recently found out Sky had heart worms after him getting tested 6 months ago. Sky is getting the antibiotics right now. He was nauseous the first couple days, but he is adjusting fine. He will be on the Doxycycline pills for a month, rest for a month, then the procedure. He is going to be treated at Spanish Trail Animal Hospital in New iberia, Louisiana.

All sky wants to do is take naps and play with his toys. He Ioves squeaky toys and goes crazy for them. He is 8 years old but plays like he is a still a puppy. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is. When he gets excited from seeing me come back home, he runs to his toys. He also loves biting water out of the hose. He tries to attack the water but can never seem to get it.
