About this campaign
No one knows what happened to Sky before she came to HOPE Animal Shelter. All rescuers knew was that she was a stray cat who was very sick. You could tell by looking at her watery, heavy eyes that she felt miserable.
"Sky wasn’t eating, and the situation was dire," Susan S., the executive director of the shelter, tells Waggle. "I was very worried. She was breathing with her mouth open. We brought her to our emergency vet, and she was diagnosed with pneumonia."
Dr. Karyn Carlson and her staff at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson immediately gave Sky antibiotics and IV fluids. She's been in the animal hospital for days fighting for her life.
The shelter needs help paying for Sky's mounting medical costs. Every pet owner knows each day an animal spends in the ER usually ends with a big bill. The rescue says Sky is worth it and shows a lot of promise.
"When she first came to the shelter, she wanted no part of us, but now she's turned into a little love bug. When I went to visit her at the vet, she came and curled into my lap and sat there," Susan adds.
Donations keep HOPE Animal Shelter's doors open, and without their organization's love, care, and devotion, many animals would suffer. "We were the first no-kill shelter in our city, and many of the animals will live their entire lives in our care because of behavioral or medical problems," Susan says. "We will take animals from other shelters who are at high risk, have behavioral problems, or medical issues."
2020 was a rough year for everyone-- with your help, Sky will have an incredible new year, hopefully with a family who loves her.
