We were looking at getting a friend for our Great Dane Deke but didn’t want anything like his size so we came across Skylar aka Skyy online and she just called to me. She was already 14 weeks so she was ready to go. So we talked about it and decided to get her. My 2 children love helping take care of her as well.

We haven’t had Skyy very long about 1 1/2 months. She’s got the best personality- she likes to be a little spunky. She loves to go for car rides and walks; then she’ll come home and want to cuddle up and take a nap with us. She may not have much of a tail but she wiggles the at tushy when she’s happy!

She makes us all laugh a lot, she loves to barrel roll everywhere all the time. She can just be walking and stop and then roll. She talks to herself in the glass slider because she can see herself- we are not really sure if she knows it’s herself yet or not.

After a week and half having Skyy, she saw the vet and after her exam she told me she had a heart murmur and that I should get it checked out sooner rather than later. Dr Rosenthal at CVCA Cardiac is treating Skyy for severe valvular pulmonic stenosis. Which is genetic and will need surgery or she will most likely only live to be 3 years old.

Of course going to the vet is what you prepare for when you have a pet. But by no means were we prepared for a cardiologist visit and surgery which is about $8000. I love my pets and will do anything for them and I will do my best to get Skyy to live a long happy life.
