I adopted Sloan as a college freshman and smuggled her into my dorm in Texas. When I moved into my first apartment, she was the best roomie. Now, after four years we live in North Carolina with her dad and her two brothers. She’s my snuggle partner, my shadow, and the most playful and loving cat. I am also unashamed to admit that I consider her my biological child and would give her my kidney.

Sloan has stage 4 dental disease and is in need of a full tooth extraction and gum repair surgery at the Veterinary Dental Clinic of North Carolina. As a kitten, she suffered from chronic Giardia that went untreated by the rescue I adopted her from. Shes dealt with too many medical issues in her short life and I’m hopeful this will be the last.

Sloan is the most playful and goofy girl. From playing with a stick of bamboo meant for supporting my plant stems to attacking the tag on our living room rug, she can entertain herself and those around her easily. Sloan is obsessed with her father and loves to lie in my arms or on my chest. She grooms her brothers against their will and is the most perfect ringleader for our fur babies.

This surgery was a very unexpected cost that I am in no place to afford easily. It’s something that has brought me immense stress because without this surgery, Sloan’s infection could spread to her other organs. This cat isn’t just a pet, she’s my soul cat.
