About this campaign
In 2014 I took in a stray dog that had been in my neighborhood. I named her Meredith like the character from Grey’s Anatomy. Two months later she gave birth to three puppies. I named them Bailey, Sloan and Yang to stay with the theme. I kept them all but unfortunately Yang passed away that year and Meredith passed away in 2021 from heart disease.
Sloan loves to cuddle with my other dogs Bailey and Pumpkin. She also loves blankets. Most of the time she tucks herself under a blanket for maximum comfort to sleep. She used to love playing with mini tennis balls but would also become obsessed and never want to share with the other dogs. Of course, she loves walking around the neighborhood and barking at bicyclists.
Sloan loves other animals. She gets along very well with my other two dogs. She also loves our cat Charlie and tries to lick his face even though he swats her away. She also has a fascination with my parent’s cockatiel named Dean. Two years ago when she was ill, she and I became very close. She always goes up to me when she’s not feeling good and I always try to make her feel better.
On April 18th, Sloan underwent spay surgery as well as a dental cleaning. Afterward, she had no appetite and was eating very little. She got medicine but continued to struggle and developed severe acid reflux. My local vet that did her surgery says they can no longer treat her and she needs to see a specialist. The acid reflux keeps her from being able to eat very much so she has lost weight.
I graduated college last year and have been trying to get a job but I have yet to find one that is located nearby. I did not expect for Sloan to be intensely ill after getting spayed so I did not financially prepare for her to see a specialist, which is very expensive.
