About this campaign

Sly (Sylvester) was born in my barn from a feral cat that roams across rural pastures. She left him when he was 2 weeks old and never came back. I heard his hunger cries for help, moved all the bales of hay to find him crouched under a the pallet. I made him some of my calf milk replacer and fed him drops by a syringe until he was old enough to start eating solid food.

He follows me everywhere I go. I adopted another kitten that was a little older so that he could have someone to play with. My children read to him everyday. My daughter loves to climb bales of hay with him and show him where it is safe to pay on the farm. My diabetic son has grown very attached.

I called around to find the least expensive clinic to help him out. We have a lot of animals that we care for already with medical needs and my son is a Type 1 Diabetic. We have already stretched our budget that we have enough to pay mortgage and feed everyone.

A gust of wind blew my garage door shut while he was sitting in the door way watching me do chores. It fractured his femur. I took him for X-rays and Ortho surgury is what is recommended. He is at Planned Pethood International in Wheat Ridge Colorado. I have been told it was a clean break. I asked for them to amputate as a less expensive option, but the vet wants to put a plate in.

He is so friendly and social with everyone he meets. Anyone who comes by, tries to take him home. He looks at me like he knows he was sent to make me happy to live on a farm again. He interacts with all of our animals and makes friends with them fast. He has filled a void in my heart from losing a pet to cancer.
