Smash, the adorable giant dog with a heart of gold, has been a loyal companion to the Pasco County 911 team. He has grown into a strong and dependable working dog despite being rescued at just five weeks old. He provides emotional support services to his human colleagues every week.

Whether it's a difficult call or a stressful day, Smash is always there with a wagging tail and warm snuggles to offer comfort and solace. His gentle nature and calming presence have helped countless people cope with the challenges of their job. He also spends his days getting beat up by his Dachshund brothers and sisters and snuggling with his tripod kitten sister.

But now, things have changed. A painful injury has left him unable to fulfill his duties and has really knocked him off his paws. He was recently diagnosed with an ACL tear in his right leg and surgery is needed to repair the ligament.

"Smash is as gentle, docile, and loving as they come!" Gina at Pasco County Animal Services tells Waggle. "He is an educator in our community, by showing people that a “bully breed” can be the perfect (and not scary!) service dog."
