About this campaign

Smoker came into our lives after I saw him in a pet shop. He headbutted the glass to get to me, and it was love. When I asked about his cloudy eye, they offered to “exchange” him. I refused. We named him for his smoky fur, and when he first meowed—a deep, raspy croak—it fit him. He's nearly 2 now. He sucks on his tail for comfort and sleeps under the blanket with us every night.

Smoker began vomiting yesterday and declined fast. He was dry heaving bile that smells rotten throughout the night, eating very little food, and is lethargic. His ears and paws are cold, and he’s only left hiding to curl up beside us for warmth and comfort. We suspect a GI blockage or infection and are taking him to urgent care, but we can’t afford diagnostics or treatment alone.

Smoker is our cuddle-obsessed shadow. He won’t leave my or my husband’s side, always crawling under the blankets to snuggle. He suckles his tail for comfort and has the heart of a gentle baby... trapped in the body of a food-obsessed chonk. Through trauma, grief, and our international move, he's been our comfort, our clown, and the glue holding our little family together. I can't lose him.

We recently relocated internationally and are staying in temporary housing. Our emergency funds are tied up due to auto-renewed accounts, and we’re currently unemployed while dealing with the VA and USCIS. Smoker needs urgent care we just can’t afford right now.
