Smokey is a 1-year-old Dsh in Bridgeport, OH, who needs $700 for Panleukopenia viral infection.

Back in august we found a 3 week old kitten on the side of the road in really bad health. We took him in and gave him the care that he needed and he became part of the family. At 7 months we decided to neuter him and after 2 minutes under anesthesia, his heart stopped. We were devastated. My 10 year old son was hit the hardest. After about a week, we decided to adopt Smokey off Facebook.

Smokey came with a brother (7 weeks old). Smokey was very timid for the first 2 days we had him and spent those 2 days under my bed. I would bring him out after a while and spend one on one with him until he finally felt comfortable to come out on his own. After 3 days I learned he did not have vaccines his entire life and was covered in fleas. I made vet appointment immediately. He was family!

I’m currently unemployed with 3 children and I’m struggling to keep up. It would mean the world to myself and my son to have him home and loved! I don’t know where I’ll get the money but he will get the medicine he needs. He doesn’t deserve to not have a chance at life!

Smokey is currently in the care of “New Horizon Animal Hospital”. He has been there for 24 hours. After 4 days here, he fell ill. He wouldn’t eat or drink. I tried forcing him water and he would immediately vomit. Just the smell of food made him vomit. I took him into the vet on Thursday ( 1week after being here) and they ran multiple tests and concluded his ailment was from not being vaccinate.

Smokey is special. He and his brother were what my son (and all of us ) needed after the loss of our rescue. He’s mostly attached to me. I spent most of the one on one with him to make him comfortable here. After 3 days, he was happy. He would purr the loudest purr I’ve ever heard, just by looking at him. And the way he lets his brother beat on him or come see if he’s ok when he cries is so sweet
