Smokey is a 1 year old Mix-Breed in Des Moines, IA, who needs $2,000 for Luxating Patella Surgery.

This is the story of Smokey, who lived on a farm in a barn. He was considered the ugly duckling that no one wanted to adopt, a face only a mother could love. He was a 3-pound, freezing cold, dirty, smelly, greasy puppy, and there was no way I was leaving him behind. I didn't know at the time we needed smokey as much as he needed us.

Smokey needs luxating patella surgery ASAP for him to be able to run and play; his other leg may or may not need surgery. He currently being treated at Altoona Vet Clinic in Iowa with pain meds and support.

Oh Smokey Smoke, he expects everyone to love, cuddle, and make him the center of attention. He is obsessed with bubbles and will scream until you turn the machine on. We used to call our dog that passed away in January Smokey Bear; well, Smokey decided his name was Smokey and not Alfie.

The last 6 months we have deflated our savings accounts due to funerals, helping another family, and now this. We are paying for more than 50% of the cost and all of the rehab; we just need that last bit of the cost.
