About this campaign
Smokey Gray (a.k.a. Gray Cat) came limping and crying into my yard several years ago, and we've been best friends ever since! He enjoys both being outdoors and snuggling with momma and her comfy blanket indoors. Smokey Gray is a big boy and enjoys his meals and treats. He is always keeping vigil, I know he keeps me safe.
Smokey Gray has a feline sister I adopted about a year ago, Velma. She is his little sister, as she's three years. They are there for each other, and provide each other company when I'm gone. Smokey Gray has taught Velma many things about the outdoors, while she's taught him how to play. Sometimes they kiss with their noses.
I teach Pre-K for a nonprofit christian daycare. I earn a very limited income. Last month I spent a little over $1000.00 on both cats. It was at the end of their vet visit that I learned Smokey badly needs dental treatment with blood work.
At the end of July, I took Smokey to get his yearly physical, nails trimmed, Revolution supply, and vaccines. My veterinarian, Donna Baker, of Central Virginia Veterinary Clinic, strongly recommended senior blood work, dental cleaning/polishing/fluoride treatment, anesthesia, catheter with fluids, and pain medication if there are needed tooth extractions.
Just recently, Smokey Gray brought a baby rabbit into the house. While he ate dinner, I took the baby animal back outside. It wasn't hurt. I realized later that this was an act of giving me a special gift. I feel honored, as he's never done this before. (His sister does this sort of thing all the time with moles!)
