Hi, I’m Maria and this is my soulmate Smores. I adopted her in Shanghai after her previous owner neglected her. She was dirty, scared, and had eye and nose issues from mistreatment. I named her Smores because she looked like a toasted marshmallow. She clung to me right away and I knew I had to give her the love she’d never had. And now I want to give her the care she truly deserves.

Smores has had respiratory and lung issues since I met her. I have taken her to numerous vets in Shanghai and she was diagnosed with asthma. Now I’m back in the states and I have taken her to many vets here because unfortunately her respiratory issues are not going away. The specialist who is currently in charge of taking care of her has suggested getting a CT scan done to see what is going on.

Being back in the states has been interesting for Smores because we went from an apartment of just the two of us to a house with 4 other cats and my family. She’s really a one person cat but she loves having other cats around to play with. She loves running around with them and chasing balls or lining up with them for treat time.

I lost my job and I’m still struggling to find work. Vet costs have been overwhelming, especially with Smores needing an asthma inhaler and ongoing tests. Her CT scan is estimated to be over $7,000 and I’ve had to keep delaying it. I just want to help her feel better soon.
