I rescued Sookie after witnessing her being neglected and left to fend for herself. I took her in immediately, and she has lived with me ever since in a safe, loving home. She is an indoor dog, deeply bonded to me, and has finally known stability, care, and unconditional love.

What was meant to be routine bloodwork for a dental procedure turned into devastating news. Further testing confirmed Sookie has a 10 cm cancerous tumor on her kidney. She urgently needs surgery to remove the kidney (Veterinary Surgical Center (VSC in Vienna, VA) , biopsies of her lymph nodes, and follow-up chemotherapy at Hope Advanced Center.

Sookie is my heart. She is gentle, goofy, and incredibly intuitive, always knowing when I need comfort. She helped carry me through the loss of my senior dog and has been my constant companion. After everything she’s survived, she still loves with her whole heart.
