About this campaign
Sopa was adopted from the local shelter as a rescue after one of our dogs died from a venomous snake bite a year prior. She broke her leg last Thursday, and the temporary cast is only meant to stay on for a week before some action has to be taken. The options that were given to us by our vet were either a $2,500 cast that had a low chance of working, a $5000 surgery, or a $1500 amputation.
Sopa is a young and excitable dog who loves going outdoors and playing, especially chasing birds and squirrels. She lives with us and our other dog PB, with whom she gets along well with. When we first adopted Sopa she seemed very nervous and almost always frightened, but she has since relaxed a lot and learned we're here to take care of her.
Our dog has a best friend in the whole world. Every day our Sopa and PB are inseparable, even if Sopa is more energetic! Sopa often likes chewing on bones or toys, and always wants to play tag with whoever is around, but she almost never wants to be the one chasing you. Sopa also has been a great help to a family of night owls, helping us sleep earlier and waking up at the right times!
Sopa has a broken hind leg from nearly a week ago. The x-ray shows a vertical fracture, meaning that simply using a cast will not have a good chance of her recovery. The surgery suggested by our vet costs 5000$, while the cast costs 2500$ and an amputation would cost 1500$. We cannot afford any of these options, and need your help.
We had a set amount of money aside for any pet related emergencies, however most of that money was spent on our previous dog who was bitten by a snake and unfortunately didn't make it.
