About this campaign
Sophie came to me when she was 6 years old with several health problems that we were quickly able to get under control. Although she may seem like a mild-mannered little biscuit, she is a tough cookie and has survived several brushes with death before this, including an attack from another dog in 2015 that took a few weeks but from which she made a full recovery.
Sophie and I have been together for seven years now, through college graduation and several moves, and she even adopted Anthony when we got married in 2018. She immediately wins over everyone she meets due to her sweet, cuddly personality and her resemblance to a golden retriever in miniature. The staff of the animal hospital where she is receiving care has informed us she was an instant favorite.
If you’ve ever met Sophie, you might be familiar with her singular fixation with collecting tummy rubs from every human she encounters, and I hope it’s made you smile. The fact that she hasn’t been in the mood for tummy rubs, ear scritches, or even peanut butter, ought to tell you how terrible she has been feeling lately.
Sophie had major surgery to remove an intestinal blockage on 11/24 at the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas. After a few days of recovery and stellar care, she started to perk up and eat normally and we were hopeful she would make a full recovery. However, Sophie developed pneumonia and has not been able to breathe on her own without oxygen.
We’re at the end of our financial rope and asking for help. After 7 days of veterinary care, continuing Sophie’s treatments will cost another $2,000 that we don’t have. We are hoping to be able to give Sophie the few more days of hospital care she needs to recover.
