Sophie is a 12-year-old Golden Retriever (English Cream) in Naples , FL, who needs $2,000 for Mass Removal.

I had fertility problems and wasn’t sure I’d be able to have kids, despite it being my dream to be a mom. To fill a void, I searched for a dog I could love and nurture. I was single and young, 21yrs, but Sophie was my first “child” she taught me to be selfless and love something more than myself. She’s grown with me and I’m so lucky for all her unconditional love throughout the years.

Sophie was the ice breaker that brought my (now) husband and I together. He had a red golden and together we’d take both our golden girls out to the dog beach and long walks. So I owe my relationship to Sophie, she picked a good dad! She also crossed the journey of me becoming a “human mom” twice, and loves her brother and sister and is so patient with them even when they try climbing her :-/

In her younger days, she would try to climb trees to get squirrels! She’s our little Tom boy— loves to be outside playing but also loves being pampered. Nowadays, she settles for sunbathing, frequent walks, and snacks- ice cream is a solid favorite! Sophie will sing a song when you arrive home and is very vocal when she wants something!!

Sophie has a large tumor on her left side, near her hind legs. You can see it in the picture I posted. It bothers her, and she’ll try licking it but then it starts to bleed so she lives in a cone, which she hates. We took her to a few vets but settled on the on that would be the most affordable.

This year my father in law, mother in law, and sister have all been diagnosed with cancer. My in-laws didn’t plan for this “time” in life so we are now responsible for them. The added responsibility makes us not be able to afford extra expenses but I’m not ready to let go :(
