Speckles is a 9-year-old Dachshund-Labrador in Lakeland, FL, who needs $2,000 for a cystectomy.

Speckles was rescued from animal services when she was abandoned on the side of a road at 7 wks. old. The tips of her hairs turned white. She is loving, sweet, and wonderful. In 2019, she got glaucoma. I tried but did not get her vision surgery soon enough and she lost her vision. In 09/21, I need to get her surgery to remove cancer but only can pay half, and she will die without this surgery.

Speckles runs the household in a kind way because she always goes first. She lets me know when to bring her and her brother outside and she loves to take a walk in the yard. Speckles loves to lie on the couch and is careful she does not fall off since she cannot see. Her larger brother is not allowed to push her around and she stays still with him because if she plays he fools around too much.

Disabled since 2008 with asthma, I had to slow down. I tried to get hired but only got two temp jobs last year and nothing yet. I work with Vocational Rehab to get hired but its slow. I spent so much since the 02/21 diagnosis I can pay less than half for her surgery now.

Speckles was diagnosed with a very time-limiting TCC cancer but it has not metastasized yet. She needs a Cystectomy surgery not done except in NYC at Animal Medical Center by Dr. C. Weisse. Her consult is 09/15 with surgery 09/16/21. Then some radiation and chemo will kill any cancer cells left and she can have a long lifespan. She will wear diapers and get changed and be fine.

Speckles loves to eat an entire McDonald's plain cheeseburger when we come home from the vet. She wants the extra burger I get for her brother. She gets alert when I get my dinner because she knows I might let her have a tiny taste of meat or fish which she enjoys. She loves her E-collar because it protects her from hitting herself in the face as she uses it to touch things she cannot see.
