A Puppy’s Femur Was Dislocated by Cruelty — Stella Blue Needs Surgery

At just 5 months old, Stella Blue should be chasing butterflies, making friends, and discovering how joyful life can be. Instead, she’s sitting in a vet cage—scared, hurting, and confused.

Her tiny body endured something no animal should ever face. Kicked so hard for allegedly chasing chickens that her femur—the strongest, longest bone in her body—was forced out of its socket. The pain is unimaginable. The betrayal, even more so. A kind neighbor stepped in and got her to safety, but now Stella Blue needs us.

She needs orthopedic surgery to repair her leg. She needs pain relief. She needs to be spayed and receive the basic care every puppy deserves. Most of all, she needs a chance to heal—physically and emotionally.

6/4/26 Update

We are happy to share that Stella Blue's orthopedic surgery was a success, and while she was under anesthesia, she was also able to be spayed. This is a huge milestone in her journey, but it is not the end of the road.

Stella Blue's recovery is still very much ongoing. She faces weeks of healing, follow-up care, rehabilitation, and careful monitoring as she regains her strength and learns to trust that she is finally safe. After everything she has endured at such a young age, both her physical and emotional recovery will take time.

We are incredibly grateful for the love, prayers, encouragement, and donations that have helped get Stella Blue this far. Because of your support, she received the surgery she desperately needed and now has the opportunity to heal and thrive.

6/14/26 Update

After successfully undergoing orthopedic surgery to repair her injured leg, Stella Blue continues to make steady progress in her recovery. Healing from such a significant injury takes time, but every week we see more strength, confidence, and determination from this resilient young girl.

She is gradually becoming stronger on her operative leg and continues to work hard as she regains mobility. Watching her become more comfortable and capable has been incredibly rewarding, especially knowing how much pain she was in when she first came into our care.

Perhaps the best part is that Stella Blue is finally getting the chance to be a puppy. Recently, while out on a walk, Stella Blue had an unexpected encounter that made everyone smile. She spotted a turtle and was immediately curious. Instead of being frightened or overly excited, she gently investigated her new friend and seemed fascinated by the slow-moving visitor. We're happy to report that Stella Blue is officially turtle-friendly!

Moments like these are a beautiful reminder of how far she has come. A puppy who once knew fear, pain, and uncertainty is now discovering the simple joys of life—exploring the world, making friends, and learning that she is safe.

While Stella Blue's progress has been wonderful, her recovery journey is not yet complete. She continues to need follow-up care, monitoring, and support as she builds strength and ensures her surgical repair heals properly. The costs associated with her surgery and ongoing recovery remain significant.

We are thrilled to share that Stella Blue's story has the happy ending we all hoped for!

After undergoing orthopedic surgery to repair her injured leg, Stella Blue faced a difficult recovery and even required several days of hospitalization. Thankfully, she was soon strong enough to leave the hospital and continue healing in a wonderful foster home, where she received the love, patience, and care every puppy deserves.

As the weeks passed, Stella Blue's true personality began to shine. Her foster family described her as endlessly curious, delightfully clumsy, and full of puppy energy. She became fascinated by birds and squirrels and would happily try to chase them if not for her leash. And yes—she even made another turtle friend along the way, reminding us all just how sweet and gentle she truly is.

Today, we couldn't be happier to report that Stella Blue has made a full recovery. Even more exciting, she has found her forever home! She has been adopted by a loving family where she now has a canine brother to play with, a safe place to call home, and the bright future she always deserved.

It's hard to believe this joyful, playful young dog is the same puppy who arrived terrified and in excruciating pain after suffering such unimaginable cruelty. Because of your generosity, Stella Blue received the life-changing surgery and medical care she needed, giving her the chance not only to heal—but to truly live.
