Sugar is a 10-year-old Shih-Tzu in New Orleans, LA, who needs $700 for Orthopedic Surgery.

Sugar and I have been together since December of 2011. Approximately 10 years now. She is my companion, my friend, and plays a huge role in my life. As I have always been a loner until she came along. My dad passed away when I was only 7 years old and my mom followed a year later, losing her battle to cancer. Sugar is my everything.

She has always been an energetic pup. She loves her daily belly rubs and playing with her favorite bone and squeaky toy. My aunt always found joy in how long she could stand upright on her hind legs whenever there's a treat involved. She loves to walk and explore every inch of her surroundings whenever we're out and about.

To make this matter worst I have been out of work for 5 months and just returned but only to part time status due to COVID-19. I'm playing catch up on bills and currently need help for her surgery. To see Sugar back to her energetic self would truly mean the world to me!

On Friday, January 15, 2020 at approximately 6:00pm, my precious Sugar was attacked by a pit bull while I was walking her. I managed to fight the dog off but not before he bit her rear left foot. I was completely devastated. I had to sort out an Orthopedic Specialist at Southshore Animal Hospital whom determined surgery will be needed as her metacarpal bone in her foot is fractured.

I love Sugar's spirit when I arrive home from a long day. She makes my life all so worth living. She immediately runs to me, then grabs her favorite bone enticing me into a game of play. What truly amazes me about her is that whenever we're watching TV and an animal of any kind appears, she immediately leaps up from where she's laying and begins to bark at the TV.
