Suki is an Alaskan Husky adopted through the Second Chance League in Fairbanks, Alaska, a nonprofit that helped transition working sled dogs into recreational homes. She has lived with me since 2020, and enjoys ski + bikejoring, boating, and exploring local trails. We live in a small dry cabin outside Fairbanks, and she spends her days relaxing and enjoying a quieter life as a retired sled dog.

Suki was recently evaluated at Golden Heart Veterinary Clinic after I noticed changes in her eating and signs of mouth pain. Because she is sensitive to handling, she was sedated for a dental examination. The veterinarian confirmed a dental infection requiring extraction of a back molar. She is currently taking Clindamycin and Rimadyl to manage infection and pain until surgery can be performed.

Suki is my baby girl and one of the most meaningful companions in my life. She reflects my playful spirit and reminds me to be patient, gentle, and present. She is incredibly intelligent, loyal, and full of personality, bringing joy to everyday life. Suki loves spending time with people, children, and her playmates Yuho, a 9-year-old sled dog, and Leon, our 16-year-old Russian Blue cat.

Medical, car, and fuel costs have made it difficult to afford Suki’s dental surgery this winter. RedRover approved $350, and we hope to fundraise a match. Current insurance has not covered her exam, medications, or this dental care, and we are exploring better coverage.
