Help poor pup Sweet Pea get the care she needs to stabilize a shattered jaw

Hand to Paw Rescue was heartbroken when they found Sweet Pea on the streets, her jaw hanging painfully out of place. She was so thin it was clear she hadn’t been able to eat in weeks, and she had been left to suffer far too long without anyone stepping in to help.

The team rushed her to the best orthopedic clinic in town, where x-rays revealed something even worse—Sweet Pea had been shot in the face, and the bullet had shattered her jaw. She needed emergency surgery right away to stabilize her jaw and give her the chance to eat and live again. Despite her unimaginable pain, Sweet Pea still wagged her tail and leaned in for affection, just wanting love.

Sweet Pea has no family of her own, but Hand to Paw stepped up to be hers. After weeks of suffering on the streets, her surgery saved her life—and now she even has a forever home waiting for her once she fully recovers.

Update 9/26/25

Sweet Pea is slowly learning how to eat and learn to play with other dogs. She is still on soft foods as she adjusts to a jaw with plates which were installed to stabilize the areas that were damaged when she was shot. She is doing remarkably well and is gaining weight!
