About this campaign

In early March, I adopted Syrus from the Seattle Humane Society. I have two dogs, one of which is nearly 13 years old & has been battling cancer for almost three years. I was hoping to find a cat that would be a companion to my younger dog to help him when my older pup passes. Despite Syrus not having any previous exposure to dogs, he quickly became good friends with both of my pups.

Syrus was first rushed to Shoreline Animal Hospital on 5/27 after I caught him eating a cotton ball with dried minoxidil on it which is poisonous to cats. The next day he went to AMC ER in Shoreline for a bowel obstruction & I was referred to South Seattle Vet for more affordable care. They thought they were able to address the obstruction, but things are not improving & Syrus might need surgery.

Syrus is a very confident cat who loves people and other animals. He loves meeting new people & dogs. He is also an affectionate, cuddly, and playful kitty and loves to be held. My older dog has been battling cancer for three years and is unlikely to live much longer. Syrus has formed a close bond with my younger dog, Mister, which will help ease Mister's loss when my older dog passes away.

I have already spent over $4500 trying to save Syrus's life. My younger dog was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease the same day as Syrus's cotton ball incident. The mounting expenses are overwhelming, & I am constrained by the cost of ongoing care for all my pets.
