Taro is a 2-year-old Poodle Mix in Fullerton, CA, who needs $2,000 for a luxating patella.

Meet Taro! He has gone through so much and is such a brave dog. He was attacked by a coyote and was hit by a car. Reading his story melted my heart and I rescued him a week after the event. I took him home with me two month ago and I absolutely adore him. I bought him pet insurance right away but he had luxating patella as a pre existing condition so the insurance won’t cover it.

He was a shy dog but I’ve been trying to expose him to world. He is such a social dog at heart. He loves meeting and playing with dogs. I’ve been taking him on long slow sniff walks every morning and evening. Taro is smart and learning a new command every few days. My friends and boyfriend love him!

I have lost my job due to COVID and have saved money for him. However, all the upfront cost of adopting him and getting all his essential have left me in a financial bind to do the surgery (especially since I won’t have any help from his insurance).

Taro has a trick right back leg. He hops every other steps and he’s been diagnosed with luxating patella. My vet at Fullerton Animal Hospital said the only way to cure him is to have surgery. His coyote bite, bruises, and scabs are completely healed, but his leg is preventing him from being 100% healed. I just want the best for him.

Taro is such a cuddle bug. He loves comfort and his favorite bed is the couch. He loves bones and bully sticks. He’s starting to learn how to play with toys especially the ones that squeaks! I am currently teaching him how to play fetch. He’s a different dog has he had adjusted pretty well. Taro smiles often.
