About this campaign

The deck was stacked against Telly. He was found as a stray who could not use his back left leg. He was likely hit by a car whose driver didn't stick around to help the dog.

An X-ray showed Telly's hip was knocked out of the socket. A municipal animal shelter doesn't have the budget to pay for orthopedic surgery. Telly's only ticket out alive was if an adopter or rescue group saved him.

The shelter contacted Mark. R., who runs Southern California Pit Bull Rescue.

"Only one in six hundred Pit Bulls make it out of a shelter," Mark tells Waggle.

And when Mark heard about Telly, he made sure the dog beat the odds -- and saved him.

Telly now lives with a foster family who loves him. He needs surgery immediately to fix his hip. Telly also had terrible ear infections. He's on pain medication and antibiotics. The rescue is trying to raise the money for Telly to have his life-changing operation at House Of Paws Veterinary Clinic.

"Because of his dislocated hip, limiting his mobility is important. Once he undergoes surgery, Telly will undergo months of rehabilitation on his surgically repaired hip. His hip will have to form scar tissue to hold his hip bone in place. Although he will be able to walk, his activities will have to be monitored," Mark says.

Telly's foster family is committed to helping him post-op. They are even prepared to use a sling to help him start walking. All Telly and the rescue needs are funds to cover his medical bill.

"We are a nonprofit that depends on donations to help the voiceless," Mark says. "Telly will be able to go on to have a great life because of your generosity."

Please help Telly walk without pain!
