Heavily Pregnant With Parvo-virus In A Rural Kentucky Shelter
One By One Animal Advocates sprang into action when they heard about a heavily pregnant dog at a rural Kentucky shelter. Without hesitation, they rushed to her aid and took her in, providing her with the loving foster home she desperately needed.
Tessa finally felt safe, secure and cared for the very next day - she delivered. Sadly it was stillborn and to save her remaining three pups, an emergency c-section was quickly performed at the animal hospital.
Miraculously, these tiny puppies emerged unscathed, with full coats of fur and healthy suckling abilities thanks to their mother's milk supply.
Tessa and her new family of three were healthy and happy - until the biggest puppy unexpectedly declined and passed away.
Her situation became an emergency again, and Tessa was rushed to the animal hospital. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with an awful virus, Parvo-virus. "We can't imagine delivering a stillborn puppy, undergoing a c-section, losing more of her babies AND being diagnosed with a deadly virus." says Heather.
Every minute mattered. Tessa had one puppy left and was fighting for her life. She is compromised already: unknown history, shelter life, mated with a bigger dog (which is why she needed a C-section). She is depressed and exhausted.
With your assistance, rescue groups can ensure that abandoned dogs like Tessa find safety, comfort and ultimately, their forever homes. No amount is too small! Your generosity will mean the world to Tessa and many others.
