About this campaign
Tex came to me as an owner surrender at the veterinary hospital I work at because his owners wanted to euthanize him due to there financial constraints. Tex had a large lump on his side and a torn cruciate. I agreed take him and fix him up and then find him a home. After the mass was removed, it was quickly realized that Tex was a much more complex case and has required intensive care since.
Tex love to play fetch... but he doesn't like to drop the ball... He enjoys chew toys, ear scratches and going for car rides. Since he has been in our home he has been healing from surgeries so we have a lot more to learn about him when he is able to get out and enjoy the world. I do know he enjoys life in general and has a way of making people love him instantly.
Because Tex was an unexpected addition to our home and his medical needs are also much more than expected we are in need of financial help. The amount we raise will get him through the urgent need and hopefully get him the chance to live a long life.
Tex's medical condition is a mystery. What seemed like a straight forward mass removal became a life threatening and nearly fatal recovery. What we know is that Tex's body seems to respond to trauma by attacking it's own red blood cells causing him to become very anemic. His surgery site has bleed so heavily that he has nearly bled out. We are improving but his condition is a roller coaster.
Tex loves my yellow lab Sugar. He is also very fond of a coworker of mine, Esther. Everytime he hears her coming down the hall he gets excited and starts bouncing around and wagging his tail. My favorite thing he does though is pick up his leash and walk himself around when he gets excited to see me. It is the silliest thing!
