I have had Thorin since he was a tiny puppy. He had to be fed around the clock given glucose because until he reached 2lbs his body couldn't regulate its own temperature or blood sugar. I named him Thorin after the character in JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit Thorin Oakenshield. Thorin is King of the Dwarves. It seemed fitting, he's tiny but mighty.

Thorin was diagnosed with Corneal Endothelial Degeneration (CED) in both eyes. Recommended treatment is a one time surgery of Superficial Keratectomy and a Conjunctival Advancement Graft. He is seen at Animal Eye Consultants.

We have a special bond. He's 11 and missing teeth so his tongue is always sticking out. He has the cutest little snore. He prefers me over everyone. He sleeps curled up, tucked under my chin. He makes me smile. Somedays he's the only reason I keep going. When I having a panic attack or am spiraling he will lick my ears (which tickles) and it helps bring me back to the moment.
