Meet Tim, a sweet one-year-old Maltipoo from Washington who needs your help.

Tim was adopted in July 2025. At first, he was timid — which is how he got his name. But within days, his playful personality blossomed, and “Tiny Tim” became the heart of his home. Tim isn’t just a pet — he is his dad’s lifeline. Tim’s dad lives with Complex PTSD (CPTSD), and Tim provides daily emotional grounding and stability. Preserving Tim’s mobility means preserving not only his quality of life, but also the comfort and support he provides every single day. In December 2025, Tim began intermittently lifting his right hind leg during walks. After conservative treatment failed to resolve the issue, X-rays confirmed patellar luxation. Without surgery, Tim risks worsening pain and permanent lameness.

Tim has been diagnosed with a painful condition called a luxating patella, where his kneecap slips out of place, causing instability and discomfort. Right now, his right knee requires surgery to restore stability and prevent long-term damage.

The estimate to repair his right knee is $5,755.63. His veterinarian has recommended repairing both knees to prevent future issues, which would total $9,076. Thanks to a $400 grant from Paws 4 A Cure and $500 contributed by his dad, Tim still needs $5,255 to move forward with surgery on his right knee.

The good news? His veterinarian is optimistic that Tim is an excellent candidate for surgery and is expected to make a strong recovery. And we're firm believers that, more than anything, this boy deserves to run, play, and live without discomfort or pain.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Tim so far. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to both Tim and his dad. As many of you know, Tim was diagnosed with a luxating patella in his right knee, a painful condition where the kneecap slips out of place and causes instability and discomfort. His veterinarian has recommended surgery to correct the issue and prevent the condition from worsening.

At this time, Tim has not yet had his surgery. Because the procedure is expensive, Tim’s dad needs to be confident that the funds will be raised and reimbursed before he can move forward with scheduling the operation. Tim’s dad has already contributed $500 toward the surgery, and Paws 4 A Cure has generously provided a $400 grant to help. Even with this support, there is still a significant amount left to raise before Tim can safely move forward with the treatment he needs.

We know how important this surgery is. Without it, Tim risks increasing pain and long-term mobility issues. With it, his veterinarian expects him to make a strong recovery and return to the playful, active dog he loves being. Tim isn’t just a beloved pet — he is an essential source of comfort and stability for his dad, who lives with Complex PTSD. Making sure Tim can walk, play, and move comfortably means preserving the companionship and emotional support they share every single day.

4/23/26 Update

We want to thank every single person who supported Tim on his journey. Your generosity, compassion, and encouragement have meant more than words can express to both Tim and his dad.

At this time, Tim has not yet undergone surgery. After further evaluation, his veterinary team has decided to take a conservative, “wait and see” approach, trying alternative treatments first to see if his condition can improve without surgical intervention. This is a hopeful step — the goal is to reduce Tim’s discomfort and improve his mobility while avoiding surgery if possible. He is being closely monitored, and his care team will reassess as needed to determine the best path forward.

If surgery does become necessary, the funds raised through this campaign will be absolutely critical in making sure Tim can get the care he needs without delay.
